Technical diagnosis
WooCommerce troubleshooting and technical diagnosis
A senior engineer investigates one specific WooCommerce problem — checkout, payments, orders, errors, performance, HPOS or integrations — and tells you what is failing, why, and what it will take to fix it.
Problem areas
What we diagnose
Each area has its own technical guide: symptoms, likely causes, how it is diagnosed and when to involve an engineer.
Checkout not completing
Endless spinner, Place Order failing, errors on submit, guest checkout broken.
Payment and gateway failures
Charged without an order, orders stuck in pending, 3D Secure loops, missing webhooks.
Missing or incorrect orders
Orders not created, wrong totals, statuses that never change, data inconsistencies.
PHP, JavaScript and database errors
Critical errors, white screens, plugin conflicts, broken AJAX, database errors.
Slow checkout and admin
High response times, saturated PHP workers, slow queries, Action Scheduler backlogs.
Order storage compatibility
Custom code and extensions that break with High-Performance Order Storage.
REST API, webhooks and external systems
Authentication errors, failed deliveries, ERP/CRM sync problems, timeouts.
When it cannot wait
How to tell whether a problem needs emergency intervention.
What the diagnosis covers
- Reproducing the problem safely — on a staging copy where possible
- WooCommerce, PHP, web server and browser logs
- Recent changes: updates, new plugins, hosting, PHP version, DNS or CDN
- Plugins, theme overrides and custom code on the failing path
- Order data, HPOS synchronisation and scheduled actions where relevant
- Gateway, webhook and API logs when an external service is involved
What you receive
- A written root-cause explanation in plain technical language
- Evidence: the log lines, requests or code that show the cause
- The recommended fix, its scope and an estimate
- Risks, side effects and what not to do
- The option to have the fix implemented, tested and documented
How a diagnosis works
A diagnosis answers three questions: what is failing, why, and what the right fix is. It does not start by changing things. Disabling plugins one by one on a live store, raising memory limits or clearing every cache can hide the symptom and destroy the evidence that points to the cause.
The investigation follows the failing request through each layer — browser, CDN, web server, PHP, WordPress and WooCommerce, the database, background jobs and external services — until the layer that actually fails is isolated. That is usually faster than guessing, and it is the only way to be sure the fix addresses the cause rather than the symptom.
Why diagnose before fixing
The same symptom can have unrelated causes. "Checkout keeps loading" can be a PHP fatal error inside a hook, a JavaScript error from a theme update, a security rule blocking the request, or a gateway timeout. Each needs a different fix with a different cost. A diagnosis gives you the cause and a scoped estimate before you commit to the fix.
When a diagnosis is not enough
If checkout is down, payments are being taken without orders, or the store shows a critical error, the work needs to start immediately and continue until production is stable. That is an emergency fix.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does a WooCommerce technical diagnosis include?
A root-cause investigation of one specific problem. Where possible we reproduce it, review the relevant logs, code, plugins, configuration and data, and deliver written findings: what is failing, why, and the recommended fix with its scope.
What access do you need?
It depends on the problem, and it is agreed after your request has been reviewed — never through the form. A staging copy and read access to logs are often enough to start. Production access is limited to what the investigation needs.
What if the cause is outside WooCommerce — the host, the CDN or the payment provider?
Then the report says so, with the evidence you need to raise it with that provider: the failing request, the response, timestamps and log lines.
What if the problem cannot be reproduced?
Intermittent problems are diagnosed from evidence instead: logs, order notes, scheduled actions and timing. If more data is needed, the report explains exactly what to capture and how.
